SEE, THINK, and WONDER
Based on National Geographic Out of Eden Walk
Descriptive Writing using Sensory Details gathered through Slow Looking
Paragraph 1
SEE
SEE, HEAR, SMELL, TASTE, FEEL
Use your five senses to record the experience of walking in the area. Look at colors, shapes and sizes. Listen all around you. Smell the air. Feel the breeze, temperatures, textures. If possible, taste the air. Experience where you are at the moment. If you have chosen one specific item, focus your descriptive details only on the one thing.
Paragraph 2
THINK
Think about where you are in space and time. Describe the experience using all your figurative language skills. Explain what you are thinking about right now or the item on which you are focusing your exploration.
Paragraph 3
WONDER
Explain what questions you may have about where you are right now or the item you are exploring?
This is not a list of items. It should feel almost poetic.
See, Think and Wonder is about your impressions detailed using your writing skills. Play with imagery and word choice.
