Traditional Literature - Tall Tales, folk tales, fairy tales   Stories that are passed down through generations.

Science Fiction - Futuristic stories tied to science and technology

Fantasy - Could not happen in real life. Often involves magic, talking animals and supernatural elements.

Mystery - Involves a secret or a crime that must be solved.

Informational - provides nonfiction factual information

Biography - true story of someone's life written by another person

​

Autobiography - A true story of someone's life written by the person. 

​

Poetry - written in verse to evoke feelings.
