All About Me Potato Head Project
August 13, 2018
The Original Mr. Potato Head of the 1950s was a handful of pushpin pieces resembling noses, ears, mouths, and eyes and were found in a cereal box. But now almost 70 years later, this one simple idea is a multimillion dollar toy. This is proof that a simple idea can and will spark success!
These creative designers reinvented the original Mr. Potato Head into a representation of their own hopes and dreams. Each spud may be the spark of creativity that leads to a spectacular future.

I would like to be a lawyer because I want to help the innocent people who have been accused of some sort of crime that they didn’t commit and are being locked up for no reason. There are some people who need the help of a lawyer, but can’t afford one. People need lawyers to defend them in the court to win a case.

When I grow up I want to be a Lieutenant General. This is a high ranking commander of the Marines and can command an army of 20,000 to 45,000 soldiers. This is what my Potato Head represents. Right now, he is going to meet his troops of 40,000 soldiers. He is wearing a camo helmet on his head and a backpack on his back. Inside his backpack are a couple of grenades. On his waist are pouches for holding bullets and first aid.

The goal I have set for my future is to become a baker. Baking is a big part of my life. True story, I started baking with my grandma at three years old. I put pink everywhere because my grandma has helped me with most of the baking when I was younger. This is a tribute to her. The pink represents breast cancer and is my favorite color. My grandmother has breast cancer.
Other things in my project represent my family. The hair is me because I like to try new styles and colors. This project was a way for me to express myself in a way that I wouldn’t have. It really made me think about things and people around me.

I am going to be a zoologist when I grow up. I like to cook. It’s one of my many talents that I have acquired over the years. I am usually good at cooking breakfast. I’m thinking of being an actor too. If I could choose only one, I would choose being an actor

My goal when I grow up is to be a soccer player. I love soccer but that is not a full answer. I want to do something good for the earth, so I am also planning to play for charities such as Feed the Valley and Make A Wish Foundation. I’m going to donate half the money I get from events to charities and the homeless. I’ve played soccer my whole life. I want to know how it feels to be on a big field with a lot of fans cheering you on. I don’t just want to read about it. I want to be there and show that I can do what I put my mind to.
Alyssa Carter
Science and engineering have always been my passion. My future goal is to become an engineer myself. I once met an engineer that I really admired and I want to find something to make the world better than it is now. I started to try to make robots, wiring robotic arms and I’ve even made a mini tractor. They haven’t failed me yet. Since I began looking into science and engineering, I found that I really enjoy both. The science experiments I have done include lava lamps, growing crystals, and what I call water pipes. As I said, I’ve always wanted to find something to make the world better and I’m going to put my heart into becoming an engineer.
Mikel Champion
I want to be an engineer and an architect because I like building things and using my creativity. I plan on going to college for eight years in engineering. I will need to learn multiple languages in order to work with people of different languages. Engineering has math with I love. In my presentation I’m holding a checklist of things to do. Personally, I liked this project because I got to express my inner self.

When I grow up, I want to be a preacher because a lot of people in my family are preachers. I want to follow the footsteps of my grandmother and my dad. My grandmother died when I was one, but I know she was a great preacher and singer. She was a pastor in the AME Church. The AME Church stands for African Methodist Episcopal Church. My dad followed in her footsteps by becoming a preacher a year after my grandmother.
De’Noah Daves
Mr. Noah Joseph Potato Head Daves can draw anything he can think of. He is terrible with math and science. He loves seeing art. He makes comic books and pictures about Ben-10. His favorite pastime is drawing. He also loves literature. He has been drawing since he was five years old. Noah would like to go to Rainey-McCullers School for Arts. He knows a lot about different types of art like abstract, non-objective and realist. Noah has attended Hannan for three years before coming to fifth grade. He has had 14 dogs; one dog died, one dog who had 10 puppies and two at the moment.
Noah is a couch potato. He is really lazy. Noah eats a lot of food. Some examples of his favorite things to eat are Hot Pockets, chicken sandwiches, pizza, Frosted Flakes, nachos, chili dogs and more. He only does two choirs; taking out the trash and feeding his dogs. He binge watches Ben-10, Sponge Bob square Pants and Teen Titans. He favorite singer is Bruno Mars. Noah has had to move from Midtown Columbus to South Columbus. Noah prefers Midtown, but loves his new home.
Noah has dark brown eyes, slightly shiny teeth, black hair and think, dark black eyebrows. Noah envisions that when he is 30, He’ll be an outstanding artist. He believes he will always feel this way and hopes all of you here will cheer him on.

This pineapple represents me. I want to be a photographer. I get a lot of compliments from my family on my pictures. My most favorite thing to do is drawing. It keeps me calm and happy. I also like to spend time with my family.
Kaydence Forrest
My spuds name is Rae. I made Rae based off of my personality and my interest in being an artist when I grow up. I like to think that I am very creative and I love to draw and sketch all the time. She is wearing a dark colored skirt because I love dark clothing, but it also has flowers because I have a bright personality. She has horns and a tail because sometimes I can be a troublemakers. She has a halo as well, because I’m also kind.
In front of her is a desk with paintbrushes that I actually used to paint some of the pictures. I made an easel to display my original artwork. The desk is covered with paint because I get pretty messy when I’m working on my art. The pictures are one of my favorite types of pieces called galaxy art that I do with my Grammy whenever I stay the weekend with her.
I was very resourceful with this project because arts and crafts at my Grammies and PopPop’s house is what we do. I get a lot of my talent from my parents. My mom is an amazing painter and loves to do arts and crafts too. My dad is really good at drawing. I hope you learned something new about me and I look forward to the rest of the school year with all of you.

My potato head is a dancer. When I grow up I will either be a photographer or professional dancer. It was a hard pick, but I choose dancer.
Autaeanna Gipson
When I think about my future, I picture me about to score two points in a basket-ball game. My life revolved around basket-ball ever since I shot a goal at age 5. My favorite sport could have been football, soccer, volleyball, hockey or any other sport but basketball is very special to me.
Going through chemo caused a lot of pressure on me when I was between the ages of 5 to 10. But the pain ended in January 2017. I was free from the taste of saltwater. Chemo is a treatment to help out with a certain body part. For me it was my right eye.

Ayani Gonzales
That’s Miss Potato head to you!
Most people call me Ayani. My family thinks I am quiet, but my friends know better. I love to draw. At home I spend all day drawing. I like to draw fictional characters. Animation is an aspiring goal for my future career. As you can see, y potato head is dressed as an artist. I draw a lot and already have two sketchbooks filled with drawings and comics since I first started drawing. I even have sketchbooks for my potato head.
I can’t ride a bike. I have attempted this many times, but it’s just not my thing. But I shall continue to try, so be patient with me. One day I will a. I may even be greater than Mr. Armstrong himself.
A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I become a folk dancer at least once or twice a year. My “Lola” or grandma in Tagalog, represents a Filipino organization in Columbus called Bayanihan. She, along with my aunt, organizes traditional Filipino folk dances that we perform for special events. To symbolize my family and our culture, I have two bamboo tree sticks for the traditional dance “Tinikling,” which is performed with skilled footwork while two bamboo sticks are “clapped” under the dancer’s feet while dancing.
The eyes on my potato head can roam around freely, which means that I can focus things that don’t matter at the moment. The eyes symbolizes my tendency to become easily distracted. So when something catches my eye, I become more focused on the other thing rather than what I was originally doing. Either that, or I become bored easily and lose interest in what I am doing.
For the most part, as you can see on my potato head, it looks more like an artist than anything else. That’s because drawing is my passion and has been since I can remember. It helps me cope with something I’ve dealt with my whole life. Social anxiety is not fun, especially for a girl my age who is just starting to learn about myself and who I want to be. Drawing isn’t just my passion it is my life.

I’ve always had a love for writing. When I grow up, my goal is to one day go to Columbus High, Columbus State University and Emory University and pursue my dream to become a director, screen writer, actor, editor, film making and voice acting. Even if what I am writing doesn’t interest many people. Like one time, I wrote about the history of Anime. Nobody gave me the assignment. I just wrote what I loved. By the time I was done, I had written five pages. That’s the most I’ve ever written in a day. That paper inspired me to start writing scripts.
My family is always there for each other no matter what. One tradition is Friday Movie Night. We eat pizza and popcorn. When I watch movies I think about the actor and the people who make the movies happen. I found a love for stop motion. At first I had no idea what it was. I wrote a little script and shot another video and BAM! My first video!!!! Now actors are important, but without writers there are no movies for the actors. Directors are also important in the movie making industry. They are the people who make the movie happen. They decide if the scene is good enough to make the final cut. I just want to be part of the behind the scenes people. One out of the ton of people who make the magic happen!

I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I love little kids. The grade I want to teach is second grade because it was probably my best year I have had so far, so I would like to make it theirs. I would like to do a lot of fun experiments. I would also want to do flexible seating. I would have some bean bag chairs, crate seats, standing tables, stools and many others. My godmother, Mrs. Stewart could not find a good school in Columbus, so she moved to Texas. She found a really good school there and now she is a first grade teacher. These are the reasons why I am inspired to be a teacher.

My potato head project was inspired by dance. When I grow up I want to open my own dance academy to show all of the girls and boys the art of dance and how far it can take you in life, if you try hard enough. I also want to show them the fun they can have working at something and then achieving their goals. Before that, I want to compete solo, be a part of a dance team, and hopefully become the team captain. Dancing is my passion and I feel that I am really good at it. I will strive and try my best when it comes to competitions and even rehearsals. I want to be as good as Misty Copeland. No matter what style of dance it is, from hip hop to jazz or ballet, I will do my best. Sometimes it may be hard but in the end I will be stronger than I was before. In my heart I will know whether or not I did my best.
Ilana Macon
My potato head project is designed for my family’s fun Movie Night. My aunt Tiffany makes different kinds of popcorn like Hersey, cookies and cream, and my favorite Unicorn popcorn. It has sprinkles with unicorn marshmallows from the lucky charms cereal.
My favorite movie to watch is Rampage. It was kind a sad because we thought George the Gorillas was going to die. He didn’t. But still you don’t make someone think that. It’s just cold. But the good thing is I get to take the extra popcorn for lunch. I love spending time with my family.
Rowan McCrea
I chose to use a pineapple because it’s hard and my family, the McCreas, is hard headed. I also chose a pineapple because it is one of my favorites and it’s sour. I like sour things.
As you can see, I designed my potato head as a football player from the “Troy Trojans.” The Trojans team is a little league football team that I played on for two years. I enjoy football very much and I was extremely excited to make a Mr. Potato Head based on the sport. The uniform is the actual one that I wore my second year with my favorite number, twelve. It is the same with the helmet. It has the exact same decals that my real helmet has. Those are Punisher skulls that we would get every time we made a good block or something to that effect. This is one of the details that I made for this project. It took time and labor but it was worth it.
My potato head is holding a football signed by none other than the infamous Rudy Ruettiger. Mr. Ruettiger is a huge football hero. He is who the movie, “Rudy” was made about. Rudy was a meager person, meaning he was short for that time. However what made him a hero was that no matter how small he was, he was a beast. He would get his job done and then some. For me, that is a big deal. It was a great honor for my dad and me to meet him.
In conclusion, my Mr. Potato Head is a football player. It is a great description of what I hope to be when I get older. I want to play for the University of Georgia. I could have had a better time creating him. I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did.
Makayla McFadden
I was born in Clarksville, Tennessee. When I was in the second grade, my brother and I moved out here. The places I’ve visited are Schellville, Ohio, New York and Florida.
I want to be a fashion designer because I like to explore different colors, patterns and textures of fabrics. My Potato head has one an outfit that I designed with Playdough and sheer fabric. I also want to be a musician when I grow up because I love to sing, dance and make up my own songs. Singing just makes me happy. My potato head has a guitar and a microphone to show my musical side.
Kai McNeely
I chose the cat meme because I love cats and I love memes. It shows a cat stuffing its face and says, “I regret nothing. NOTHING!” I chose the dragon meme because I’m obsessed with dragons and says, “Always be yourself. Unless you can be a dragon. Then always be a dragon!”
Now onto my applehead. I chose a green apple since green is one of my favorite colors and it’s onto the colors of the House of Slytherin, because I love everything Harry Potter. If I had a house in Hogwarts, it would be Slytherin since I’m clever and cunning. The snake and decorations are also green and silver to look like a Slytherin room. The toothpick is a wand, and if you look closely above the eyes you’ll see a Harry Potter scar. The book in his hand represents how I really love to read, and I’ve actually started writing my own book.
Finally, the octopus is here because I want to be a marine biologist when I grow up. Did you know octopi, which is plural for octopus, can fit into almost any gap, as long as their beak can fit? They can also change their texture, color and shape to camouflage and imitate things because they have not bones. When they are threatened, they squirt a bunch of ink to confuse the attacker and get away. If they can’t get away and lose an arm they can grow it back.
Bryce Mckeel
I used cheese for the eyes because I like cheese. I used coral for the mouth because I like the beach and coral reefs. I used leaves for the hair because I like the outdoors. I used grapes for ears because they are round like ears. I used mini figure arms because I like to play with toys. Finally I used Legos for the nose because I love to work with Legos.

Beach Bum
Every summer my family and I go on a trip to the beach. This summer we went to Destin, Florida. My family included me, my mom, my sister, my grandparents, my aunt and my three cousins. We were able to go to the beach almost every day because it was close enough to walk. For most of my visit we had to be careful about how far we went into the water because of dangerous riptides. Riptides are waves that are strong enough to rip you way into the deep parts of the ocean. My room had an indoor pool right behind it so we could go there whenever we wanted. Whenever it was too cold to go to the beach we could go to the pool.
One day we rode a boat which took us to a special place in the Gulf of Mexico. There we went snorkeling. We found hermit crabs, fish and even shrimp. We weren’t allowed to take anything home though. On the last day my family went to the souvenir shop. I got a pet hermit crab named Hidey to remember my trip.

I’ve always wanted to be a doctor since I was very small. I’ve always wanted to help people who are in need. I am from Nigeria, Africa and people there have really bad health conditions. People have to walk long miles just to get access to healthcare and even when they do get to the hospital there is a shortage of doctors and nurses to take care of them. There are also problems with kids getting to school, and finding good drinking water. People suffer there and I want to help them, along with other sick people in the world. I want to be a person who helps make this world a better place. I want to be a person that helps people in need of medical care.
Jayla Pollard
The thing I love to do in my spare time is to read, draw, and play with my Legos and build. Legos for me are the best object to use to build. I would love to be an architect and use wood, glass, metal and bricks. If I couldn’t become an architect, I would be an artist. Some of the jobs I would love in art would be an animator, makeup artist, and digital artist. I would love to go to an art college and learn animation and makeup design.
I’ve included an oven. This is because my beautiful mother wanted to be a cook and my dad is going to show me how to cook. There is a cat because my cat’s name is Alexander but I call him Alex. I’ve had him for two years. He’s five years old and he’s my seventh pet. I’ve had two hamsters, two cats, one dog and two fish. The sports equipment is there because I have played soccer, softball and basketball. I’ve played soccer three times and I have three trophies and one medal. I played softball once and basketball twice. I have one medal. I have theater masks because I’ve done theater.
Scarlett Slappy
I love to read and write. When I grow up, I want to be a preacher and a veterinarian. I want to be a preacher because when I go to church I see the preacher and say, “That is what I want to do.” I want to be a veterinarian because I’ve always wanted to help animals and take care of them. Animals are just like people. They get hurt and sick just like all of us do. In my opinion, people need to think of animals not just as pets or animals. They need to think of them as family.
I’m a farmer. I have 11 horses, 9 dogs, more than 40 cows and more than 20 chickens. Every day I go into one of the pens and I pick up a pigeon that can’t fly and I put it to bed at night and wake it up in the morning. So now you know a little about my life and I really hope that I get to know you as well.

The first thing you may notice is the pink tutu that my potato is wearing. The tutu on my potato head represents my favorite hobby – DANCE! I have been dancing for five years, taking tap, jazz, and ballet and lyrical. Dance allows me to express myself in different ways. Another creative outlet that I enjoy is piano, as represented by the picture on the wall. I am in Adult Level 3. I also have a favorite outdoor hobby, which believe it or not is – FISHING. I’m actually pretty good at it too.
Now back to fashion. My potato is wearing a beautiful headband. I absolutely love headbands. You will often see me wearing them to school. I love how they can bring any outfit together. This leads to the picture of the Justice Logo. I buy most of my headbands there. It is my favorite store in the world. I can search all day there for the perfect clothes and accessories. Anything will work, especially if it is green, which is my favorite color. This color inspired the wrapping for my shoe box.
I the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. Being a child with asthma and having severe allergies is no fun. I have great respect for doctors who have helped me, and I hope to help children just like me one day. On a lighter note, the addition of popcorn was not by accident. I love popcorn. Popcorn is my favorite snack. While I am eating popcorn, sometimes I enjoy a good book. I have always loved reading. Once I find a book that captures my interest, I cannot put it down. Along with reading, I am interested in science, which is my favorite subject. I love doing science experiments.
I almost forgot one important thing. I love to smile. So that is me, Skylar Christine Smith, in a nutshell. But not a peanut since I am allergic.
Skye Smith
I want to be a banker when I grow up. I’m swimming in money.
Ariveah Smith
I have a dress that I made on my potato because I want to be a fashion designer. I like clothes. I wanted to be a groomer not so long ago, but I changes my mind. I can make dog clothes for my mom’s grooming place for money to pay for the shop. This colorful box is the representation of the shop. They are my favorite colors and the dog is representing my two dogs. Their names are Odin and Ryder. My sister has a cat named Hades. We also have an outside cat that is named Loki.
My eyes are dark brown but some people thing they are black. My hair is also dark brown and still a lot of people think it’s black. I like to wear skirts and dresses a lot. I like cats and dogs as you can see. I have so many. The dogs and cats are really cute. Every time I come home, I like to pet the dogs and cats.
I love reading a lot because I can imagine in my head what’s happening in the story. I have almost read the entire Harry Potter series. I just need to read the rest of book seven. If you have not read the Harry Potter series than you should. You should also read Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Hunger Games. They are really good books, so please read them.
Sometimes I like to do yoga and workouts with my mom. I’m kind a good at yoga. But I’m really good at workouts. My favorite sport is soccer. I’m okay at soccer. These are a few things I wanted to express with my potato person project.
Kailyn Summers
My potato head is a cheerleader because cheer is my favorite hobby. I want to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Right now I do competitive cheer to prepare myself for Dallas Cowboys Cheer
Hannah Tant
Potatoes are used in many ways. You eat them. You play with them. You become them. But most importantly, they become something. In this case, they become an actress on a stage. I selected to do a stage with my potato because I love acting. Acting is a form of entertainment. It’s also really fun.
Acting is my favorite thing to do. I left little Easter eggs in my project. The potato is dressed up as a fox. You can see the ears and tail. It’s a fox to represent my latest play, The Chicken Hearted Fox. The potato is holding a microphone because I was selected to do the opening speech. I know some of you are wondering what in the world an opening speech is. An opening speech is basically its name. You get to tell the audience who you are and you introduce the Drama Queen. It’s scary but fun. Storyland Idol was my first ever play, so it’s important to me. I played Alice in Wonderland.
The audience is made of pineapples and grapes. They’re not actual fruits. They’re Styrofoam balls. Good idea right? No, not really. It would’ve been cheaper to buy the actual fruit. But hey it was an idea so I did it. I painted the pineapples yellow and the grapes purple. There are no green grapes because I like the color purple more than green. The audience looks a little depressed today. They’re not cheering. Wonder why?
Someone once told me to think of something more realistic than an actress. Well forget them. It’s my dream and they’re not crushing it! The potato actress was designed to be me in the future. Even if I’m not an actress, I’ll still want a career that involves some sort of acting. Sure I like computers, but technology is a whole different area. My potato followed its dreams and it became an actress.
Kaitlynn Teague
My Mr. Potato Head Project is a mixture of my astrological sign and my career - a S.W.A.T. officer and a lion. I was born in July which means I’m a Leo. The dates for the Leos to be born in are July 23 through August 22. I am also a Leo because it stands for Law Enforcement Officer. Police officers make the world a better place and I love making the world a better place. They also have really cool uniforms. If other would help officers out, we could rid the world of crime and I want to do that because many lives would be spared.
I would make a good officer because of the characteristics of a Leo. Leos are able to solve difficult problems which officers do on a daily basis. They also get dedicated to their work and finish it. The Leo is also a natural born leader. We can achieve anything we want. Leos are loyal and have high self-esteem. Leos are always busy which I am too. Between running club, Science Olympics, Stomp and class, I can often find myself pretty busy at times.
Dustin Tucker
I made mine out of corn on the cob with carrots as arms, instead of a traditional potato. He is named Professor Corndog. When I grow up I want to be a scientist, I’m not sure what kind or type of scientist. Professor Corndog teaches students about his findings. Today he is mixing chemicals, which in this case is blueberry juice, strawberry juice and grape juice. He is making chemical reactions to see if there are any color changes. He has a clipboard where he is recording any results of any reactions. He also has a chart to compare those results.
He is also studying an egg he found. He will have to do some testing to the egg to see exactly what kind of egg it is. I would like to be a scientist when I grow up because there are so many ways that science can be used. The opportunities are endless. I love science.
Marcadia Underwood
My potato head project has a science environment for my future career of a Bio Medical Scientist. The painting easel represents my love for drawing. The “R” stands for my favorite video game Roblox. My spud looks like this because she is a scientist developing medicines to cure or treat people who are sick.
My family is represented with dogs. I have a dog named Polo and my mom loves dogs. The basketball is for my sister. She likes basketball. The car is for my father. He loves cars. The cookie represents my love for baking. The book cover is a copy of my book. I am an author. The wooden cross is a symbol that represents my faith.
Cameron Valdez
First, I am a little lazy and like to stay home mostly, but I do go outside once in a while. Secondly, I really like video games. In fact, I love video games so much that I have three books about them in my room. Lastly, I aspire to be a scientist. I want to excel in science. Science is cool because you never know what you’re going to find.
Video games are my main hobby. Right now, my favorite is Splatoon2. It is one of the less popular games for Nintendo switch, but it is super fun. The” before time runs out. I also do origami so I can create ninja stars and other things. I occasionally draw from time to time and sometimes I like to read. My favorite book series is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I think I’ve pretty much read all of the book in the entire series. I think science is very beneficial, and could help many people. There is so much left undiscovered. There are many formulas to chemicals, genes and other organisms or objects.
Science is so vast with all the different subcategories. There are many types, such as chemistry, biology and physics. The possibilities in science are infinite. My favorite subject in science is marine biology because we have only discovered 1 percent of the ocean, and we need more information. This interests me because who knows if the megalodon still exists or if a new type of species get discovered. Science is cool and challenging in so many different ways.
As for my family, my mom and dad were both in the Army for many years. My dad left the army after his last deployment to Korea and my mom retired in February 2018 after her last deployment to Afghanistan. Right now my dad works for the Department of Defense Media Activity, while my mom stays home to care for my older brother who is disabled. My mom is starting a business so she can work from home, while taking care of my brother.
My’Kyla Walker
My Miss Potato Head’s favorite things to do are cooking, fishing, drawing and baking. She enjoys baking sweets such as cookies, cupcakes and cakes. This spud was in Dr. Lester’s class at Hannan Academy. She went on to graduate high school and continue her education to become a plastic surgeon. After working under another doctor, she saved enough money to start her own practice. After many years of being a surgeon and opening a practice worldwide, she became famous and known all over as Dr. My’Kyla Walker, M.D.
Jorden Williams
The glasses are blue because my first glasses were blue. I need them to see. I am near sided. That means I can’t see far away and only up close. It also has dreadlocks because I have hair that is too thick and grows back too quickly. I have a tender head so locks were my only option.
In martial arts I’m learning submissions, take down and punch combos. It takes two or three years to become a black belt. I’ve only been in it for two months. Right now I’m a gray belt.
I have a controller in my hands because I have a PS4 and Xbox One. There is a green book because I like reading.
