Day 1 April 20, 2023
Ms. Lynne brought 18 eggs from her personal farm. They were placed in an incubator at 91.5 F and 41% humidity. She said they should always stay between 45% and 60 % humidity. If it drops, add water. If it goes too high, open the vent. In 7 days we will do what is called "candling" to see if the eggs are fertilized. If all goes well, we should have fluffy, colorful chicks in 21 days. That should be on May 10!!!!!
Day 8 : April 27, 2023
Ms. Lynne came to our classroom and helped us candle the eggs.
Dr. Lester sees a baby chick moving inside the egg for the very first time.

The chicks needed to stay in the incubator for up to 48 hours. After school, Mrs. Polk took them home and gave them a coop of their own.
Heading Home with Mrs. Polk to
Rooster Hollow.
May 17, 2023
Our sweet babies hatched on Friday, May 12, which was our Field Day. Only a few of the kids were able to see them, if they caught a glimpse as Mrs. Polk was leaving with a box of chicks. She very kindly brought them back on Wednesday, May 17 so we could play with them.
May 17, 2023 After School
Mrs. Polk packed up the chicks and tried to head out our classroom door. She didn't get too far before she sweetly brought out the chicks for the kids in the hallway.
Our little chicks will live out their days with Mrs. Polk in a beautiful Coop at Rooster Hallow, in Pembroke, Ga. We hope to get updates on them too. Such fun to watch them grow.
